Stainless Steel Door in ICF Type AC and Non AC Coaches

Background:

Heavy corrosion of doors made from corten steel in ICF type AC and non-AC coaches reported by Railways which necessitates significant replacements in POH.

SS Door

Description:

Body side doors material has been changed from IRS M-41 to Ferritic stainless steel grade 409M. Expected to be more corrosion resistant and thereby reduce repair/replacement costs during POH.
