Description:
Stainless steel paneling (Low cost grade SSLN1 of SAIL or J4 of JINDAL) having canvas finish has been introduced in toilets, roof, doorway and on side walls up to window sill level. This is a major facelift to GS/SCN coaches, which will improve aesthetics and also reduce maintenance substantially.
Implementation Status at ICF:
Fitted on 15 SCN and 5 GS coaches on trial in 2015. Feedback received from S.Rly (1 coach) as satisfactory. SCR (3 coach) reported not satisfactory due to corrosion spots near doorways and below windows. Therefore, it is planned to change the material grade to high grade austenitic stainless steel to grade 304 and to be implemented in 2016.
